Period Film Set in 1931 depression USA. Micheal Sullivan (Tom Hanks) works for a gangster boss and a godafther John Rooney (Paul Newman). Micheal Does not want his kids Micheal Jr.(Tyler Hoechlin) and Peter (Liam Aiken) to follow his footsteps. He keeps his kids aloof from his job till very curious Micheal Jr. decides to hide in Micheal’s Car and see what job his dad does. He is shocked to find that his father is a gangster and his colleague Rooney Conner(Daniel Craig) has just killed a double crossing memeber of the gang. John gets wild at Son Rooney for killing the member if the gang and trust micheal more then his son. This ires Rooney who in a fit kills Micheal’s Wife Annie (Jennifer Jason Leigh) and younger son Peter. Micheal and Micheal Jr. then excape to Chicago and start double crossing John Rooney by looting all his black money from the banks and make a plan to seek revenge against John and Rooney. The Story is very Cliched but top notch performnaces by Tom Hanks (Maybe a contender for the best actor oscar - 2002) and a superb performance by Paul Newman(A sureshot contender for best supporting actor oscar - 2002) make up for them. Slow at times but worth a watch for the performances. Good Music by Thomas Newman and
John Williams. Attractive Cinematography by Conrad Hall. Not a classic movie but definatley no Tom Hanks Fan will miss this one. Once Again Tom Hanks proves that why he is still the best actor around.
