I was very disappointed when I tried to install iPhotoPlus 4 in my new computer. All new PCs come with Windows 7 now days and iPhoto Plus 4 is an old photo software made some time in 1998. In Windows XP, iPhoto Plus 4 worked well with the exception of saving files in interchangeable format. I was able to get around that problem by changing the file format later on.
I found away around getting iPhoto Plus 4 to work in Windows 7 just as it did on Windows XP. Windows 7 allows you install older programs by opening them with previews versions of Windows. To do this you go to CONTROL PANEL. Select, PROGRAMS. Click, RUN PROGRAMS MADE FOR PREVIEWS VERSIONS OF WINDOWS. Follow the instructions there after. In the case of iPhoto Plus 4, it wasnt working like it did for other older programs I installed.
I kept on getting this message: "cannot execute D:\PC|IP\IPP4.ENG\Setup.exe" I was about to give up at that point. Then, I thought! maybe it has an issue reading the program from the CD itself. So, I tried one more thing, I opened the CD folders and found the iPhoto Plus 4 program and made a copy of it on the computer. It copied in a compressed file. So, you must uncompressed before the next step. I then, went back to PROGRAMS and asked it to run iPhotoPlus4 with a previews version of windows and VIOLA!!! It opened it.
I tested it by opening a picture and working on it using all the features. It worked fine. Hope this helps those who still enjoy this simple photo software that came with your old installation scanner CD.
