VENOM - NEITHER TOO BAD NOR TOO GOOD

IN MY OPINION:

Very well in my opinion, unlike all other superhero flicks their story carries a weight of seriousness in it. But, here in Venom things are tend to be totally different. It’s no big news or some kind of revelation that all the superheroes are trying to save the world from a certain threat that is beyond human imagination. And, not deviating from the track, Venom, on the other hand, is an alien specie that is trying to save itself and in order to do that it is seeking a humans help!

Sounds crazy to you?

Yes, you heard [read] it right. Director of Venom Ruben Fleischer has come up with a film that’s funny on the dark side and as well as an edge of the seat, truly an entertaining action filled package for the audiences. It’s a story of a guy who very well is confident about himself that he is a born loser [ LoL ].

STAR - CAST:

Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, Jenny Slate, Reid Scott, Woody Harrelson.

PLOT OF THE MOVIE:

This is a story about a journalist guy Eddie Brock [Tom Hardy] who is taken over by an alien species accidentally while investigating the shady things going on at a Life Foundation company. It’s a place where the scientist is researching different alien life forms which are believed to save humans from becoming extinct. The company is headed by Carlton Lake [Riz Ahmed] who has pioneered in space exploration for bringing down alien life forms. Now, these alien life forms are nothing but symbiotes that need a host for its survival. One among those alien life forms is the Venom who bonds with Eddie Brock [ the reason behind their bonding is because they both are weak and a loser in their own world which connects them both mentally and physically]. Now the two of them have to work on together to survive against those who are trying to kill them. I won’t reveal who the villain is, and let it be a reason for you to watch the movie.

The storyline isn’t that strong enough to get an applaud from the audiences since it seems to be a normal or rather a simple science fiction story. But, fair enough to an extent, promising you won’t get bored either. The plot could have been made a bit stronger if Scott Rosenberg would have gone more elaborative into the Venom’s world.

PERFORMANCE:

The performance part is the real strength of the movie. Tom Hardy fans usually know that he is playful and fun to be watched on the big screen. The best part of the film is the interaction between Eddie Brock and Venom. Tom Hardy who plays the role of an investigative reporter who wants to bring the truth in front of the whole society always lacks in making morally sound decisions. He is the protagonist has so many flaws which is a treat to your eyes. The real fun begins when Venom comes into the picture. For me, both the characters are likable [not everyone would have the same taste as it may vary from individual to individual ] since it’s Tom Hardy who is the show stealer.

The film has Tom Hardy and Venom moments and some badass action sequences which make it a delightful watch. You will also get to see the complete powers of Venom. The credit for the funny moments that arise in the movie goes to Venom who showcases a sense of humor and no sense of decorum.

The rest of the cast have given their best performances which contributes to the film’s overall success. Riz Ahmed plays the role of a billionaire with an unethical character in nature. Michelle Williams, on the other hand, is a likable character with not much screen presence. She acts as the supportive character in the film.

Venom in its full avatar looks horrifying and scary as well. When compared to other superhero movies which have different costumes, here the Venom itself acts to be like a costume for Eddie Brock. Venom is said to be a symbiote which is a demonic parasite as stated in the movie shown in sci-fi movies and is a part of the MCU ( Marvel Cinematic Universe). [ First appeared in Amazing Spider-Man ]

MUSIC:

The theme music is good enough for the overall background score. Though the presence of music will be less felt in the film.

CINEMATOGRAPHY:

Kudos to the team of cinematography and especially to the cinematographer Matthew Libatique for giving us the best shots of Venom action sequences. The camera angles set up has been worth praising especially when they are chasing Venom on the streets of Chinatown and North Beach, San Francisco. Much of the footage you will see is of the location in Northern California and the other scenes were filmed in Atlanta, Georgia.

MY SUGGESTION TO YOU:

If you are a big fan of watching superhero movies, then Venom is going to show you the other side of the coin. Two different characters, Eddie Brock and Venom, played by Tom Hardy won’t disappoint you at any cost.

Go ahead and watch it for THE VENOM. It is an infectiously entertaining film. Just wait for the Venom to get unleashed.

P.S.: DO NOT MISS THE POST-CREDIT SCENE. STAY BACK FOR IT.
