First Scooter In Life.

As an introduction, I’d like to tell everyone that I have had many cars in my life, but I have never owned a scooter. I am enthusiastic about this scooter because I love riding a scooter, but I don’t have anything else to which I can compare it.

  • Fuel Consumption(kms/litre)= 43 kilometers round-trip from Whitefield to Jayanagar for~Rs. 150. This is enduring the usual traffic.

  • Comfort= It appears to me that the seat is designed in some different width. Perhaps because it is a Japanese scooter. There isn’t much cushion in the seat, it is more like a plastic/leather saddle for horseback-riding. The other bikes around me seem to have different seats that seem more comfortable - especially the Honda Activa.

  • Reliability= It needs to be started with choke every morning, or rather, every cold start. This is fundamental.

Once the fuel goes into the red on the gage, I seek a petrol pump right away because I see so many men pushing bikes on stretch. I prefer to not have to go through this, so I don’t allow fuel to get into issues.

-Handling and Control= I wanted a light scooter because my biggest fear was that the bike would fall on me and I would not be able to get away from it. I wanted it to be easy for me to pick up and maneuver because I knew that I had to learn to ride it. Now that I have hit some potholes and have learned to weave between cars, I am grateful for its angles because it does have really sharp flex on the steering. I just need to get physically stronger so that I can control the tilts between the trucks because it’s faster in terms of the urban speed. Definitely Japanese hit, thank you.

-Looks= The color is the catch with this particular series because the promotions brought this blue one(that they promote as cyan) and a black one with a front disc brake. They are designed for quick stops and it has really impressed me how strong and secure the brakes snap.

With the criteria out of the way, I can tell you that I had two falls - one going counter-clockwise into a traffic circle and the other when I turned around to go against traffic to avoid embarking upon some crossover. A guy on a Hero Splendor did not see me and clipped me on the left side. I fell of the bike and he injured his toe on his left side. I heard the bike crack on impact and it sounded like a plastic crunch. It is springy and breaks away for safety, if that makes any sense. The bike is light, but that’s what I asked for:)
