This is the first Ruskin Bond book I read. And I loved every bit of it. Readability is too awesome this phone. This is a really good book. Written in Hindi as(Parvaaz), made as a movie named Junoon. In the beggining Ruth is in the church with her dad when 6-7 sepoys aproach to attack the people in the church. One of them tried to attack them but he missed. Ruth’s dad’s cheek was cut and he had chopped of two of his fingers. He was bleeding badly. Ruth runs to her house for help and watches he house burn in flames, she turns around and sees Lala, Ruth’s maid. Lala takes her to his hut where he was keeping Ruth’s mother and family members. Ruth told Lala about her dad and when Lala went to help Ruth’s dad he was dead. One day Javed Khan took Ruth and her mother to his house by force. He asked Ruth if he could marry her and have her as a second wife. Mariam, Ruth’s mother said she needs time to think. After some weeks Sarfaraz Khan came to Javed Khan’s house and told them that he was going to chop their heads off, but Javed Khan stopped him. Ruth and her mother were invited to Kothiwali’s house. Kothiwali was Javed Khan’s relative, she was very kind and treated Ruth and Mariam as her favourites. Ruth and Mariam lived with Kothiwali for three months and one day they were told that Shahjhanpur was under attack. So all of them had to go to Delhi. There were not any meenas left so, Mariam and Ruth had to travel on a bullock cart that belonged to a doctor. He took Mariam and Ruth to a small hut in a village and they were safe. Javed Khan fled to Nepal, but he was eventually caught.
