A KNIGHT TO REMEMBER.

Last week, I had the privilege to see this flick and I tell you it was one of the best movies I have seen in recent times.I do not know why Regal Cinema had this movie only for a week.A lot of folks are going to lose out on this gem.See it if it is playing in your area.

It is all about a peasant who decides in his childhood that he will become a knight. The only problem is that you cannot become a knight but you have to born one.But then this chap, William has the stars in his eyes and he will stop at nothing to become a knight and he lies to do just that.He has the support of his friends also. Now this movie has to do with the medieval sport of jousting, which is two knights facing each other off with lances. It is a dangerous sport and only for the brave of heart. And our man wants to become the champion in the land.

The movie’s main attraction lies in it’s tongue in cheek approach to the whole subject.Like for instance we gat to hear the famous Queen song We Will Rock You in the beginning of the title sequence and even the folks are chanting this song.Famous writer Geoffrey Chaucer is shown as a compulsive gambler who is also a good man for mouthing all the best lines in the script.

We have the hero, going through all the motions of training and then getting the better of all the competition in the land.He falls for one of the noble ladies and has to go through a litmus test to prove his love to her. This flick is packed with humour and mind boggling scenes of jousting. Some of the knights look very regal in their armor.

Director Brian Helgeland has done a good job of extracting performances from the entire cast. This is a movie where the star cast is absolutely unknown unless you count Heath Ledger who plays the role of William in the movie who was there in The Patriot of Mel Gibson as his son.Brian Helgeland is a man to watch out for as he gave us Payback and now this movie.See it and cherish this flick. It is different and certainly is good value for your hard earned money.
