The Latest Offering by the Maidens

Its been a while since some good music has been out in the market. And ’A Matter of Life and Death’ comes as a breather to those of us starving for some real good music. This is Iron Maiden’s 14th studio album. The line-up of the band hasnt changed since their last 2 albums. If you are looking for Maiden of ’The Number of the Beast’, its not here. But if you are looking for the Maiden of ’ Sevent Son of the Seventh Son’, its here. The album is dark and progressive.

Its not a concept album, but some of the songs have religion and war and peace mentioned time and again. ’Different World’ is on the lines of their earlier songs. I didnt particularly like ’These Colors dont Run’ too much. ’The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg’ starts of slow. And is in the true Maiden spirit. It really grabbed me. ’Lord of Light’ has a good arrangement and the second half of the song really changes.

And Dickinson is sounding much better than what he did in some of his recent albums. Steve Harris recently said that the album will be as Old School as they can make it, or something to that effect. I think they succeeded to quite an extent. The album is already Gold and has been topping the charts everywhere. This album grows on you, and like most good music, you keep discovering new elements to it the more you listen to it. I think its a DEFINITE BUY!! ps: my tip- dim the lights, and increase the volume. or better still, get to one of the Pubs in B’lore and rock on.
