A.R.Rahman Signature Collections. T-Series 2009. Be watchful before you buy. I was looking for A.R.Rahman collections from a long time, and whn I saw the ad in the TV about the new T-Series collection.
I couldnt postpone this anymore. It had latest tracks from Slumdog Millionaire, Delhi-6, Ghajini and Jaane Tu. In addition, tracks from all time hits - Bombay, Roja, Taal, guru, Lagaan, Rang de basanti, Rangeela, Sapnay, Pukar, Swades and more Saathiya, Dil Se, Yuvraaj.
What else one would expect? It was the best collection ever.I bought this album consisting of 3 CD set, each one with 17 tracks for 160 bucks. But what turned out is totally different. Tere were many tracks which are not from original sound track.
Ok, if it was somewhere near / "like" the original one in terms of quality of recording or mixing, I would have appreciated. But these non-original tracks are poor and do not come anywhere close to the original ones - there is no Rahman in those tracks at all. There are many new tunes, some songs are not to the original scale and do not have Rahman effect when I play it on my Onkyo AVReceiver.
Yes, there is mention of these non-original tracks if you read very carefully on the rear side of the CD cover. Even if you read, one would still go for it for the way it is advertised on TV or merely looking at the tracks. Out of 50+ tracks on 3 CDs, around 1/3rd are original. Rest 30 odd are non-original sub standard ones. I am happy that at least around 20 tracks are absolutely fine. Otherwise, I would have lost my money completely. Be watchful before you buy. When it is Rahman music, everyone knows how it sounds.
