I was dying to see this movie from the commercials on TV. I love fantasy and thought this would be awesome. So I drag my teens along. The sets were beautiful, reminded me of Tim Burtons night mare before Christmas.
I think the story line was too dark for the targeted audience, and mot interesting enough for an older audience. The best thing ion the movie was the use of the Gothic element.
A Series of Unfortunate Events has Lots of Jim Carry, but not enough humor to count as a good comedy. I was wanting to leave in the middle because it was so predictable.
I would not recommend this movie unless you are totally bored and there is nothing else to see, You can just sit back and enjoy the visual aspects of this movie and forget the bad, predictable plot, just make sure your kids are old enough and have a good concept of reality , or they may become frightened or bothered because of all the terrible things that happen to the kids in the movie.
