A gripping experience-right from beginning to end

Starring: Ajay Devgn, Akshaye Khanna, Paresh Rawal, Bipasha Basu, Reema Sen

Director: Priyadarshan

Music: Pritam

’Akrosh’- This is for people who had missed ’Gardish’. This is for people who thought that Priyadarshan can only make light-hearted comedies. This is for people who have been tired of an over dose of mindless cinema and desperately desired for some serious action-packed cinema. This is for all Ajay Devgan fans. This is for all Akshaye Khanna fans. This is for all those who had seen Paresh Rawal during the 90s, essaying negative roles and felt like killing him. This is certainly not for people who go to watch light-hearted movies and expect to come out giggling at the end of the show.

Plot:

Two CBI officers(Ajay Devgan and Akshaye Khanne) are sent to Jhanjad, Bihar to investigate a case related to the the disappearance of 3 guys studying in Delhi(who were last seen in Jhanjad). They start their work but soon find themshelves entangled between the Local Police Oficers and bureaucrats who have either closed their eyes or are themshelves part of the bloody incidents that have been going on in the area. As the plot unfolds, they find out the disparaties that exist in the area based on Caste and the injustice that prevails in the area. The film is about how these two guys face the entire set of Police Officers and other high-profile people on their way to solving the mystry and how they handled different difficult, uncomfortable and dangerous situations in both their professional as well personal lives.

My two cents:

-------------------

Although there are moments when the film slows down a bit but these moments are rare and the director is able to hold on to the audience’s attention for the entire duration and for me this is what defines a movie. The film comes out a winner to me. There are a few breath-taking chase sequences which will keep you on the edge on your seat. After the movie ended, I sat on my seat for five more minutes introspecting as to what I just watched. This is certainly a well-made movie. Priyadarshan has put in a lot of thought into the movie and hats off to him for that. His fan-base was ever diminishing owing to him not offering anything new to the audience but this movie again re-affirms him as a top notch director in the industry- Be it comedy or serious cinema.

Performance:

-------------------

A yet another knock-out performance by the lead actors (Ajay Devgan and Akshaye Khanna). Paresh Rawal shows glimpses of why he was the most hated villian in the 90s. Bipasha Basu and Reema Sen are good but never get enough oppurtunities. Reema Sen seemed to have put on some weight(not good for her acting career) and  Bipasha is as fit as ever(I was amazed to see how can a person look that perfect even in a cotton Saree)

Music:

---------

Not much to talk about the music. A ’Sameera Reddy-item song’ has been unnecesssarily inducted. However there is a decent song featuring Ajay Devgan and Bipasha Basu which goes with the flow. Thankfully, the director did not have more songs which would have certainly hampered the flow of the movie.

Rating:

----------

I would go for 4/5 for this movie for the story, performance, action sequences and the direction.
