Aamir Khan has been known as the quintessential Mr Perfect. But is He? Well, in his chosen profession there cant be anything perfect, technically speaking. Then what about his penchant for perfection? He is an actor who sincerely has attempted to excel each time he has accepted an acting assignment. He has definitely honed his skills since he won everyones heart as the cute looking boy-next-door in Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak. He has won laurels as an actor of repute both nationally and internationally. There have been umpteen write-ups on how he prepares for a character, getting under its skin methodically. He is thus in a screen appearance not Aamir Khan the Bollywood superstar but Aakash, Bhuvan, Raja or Mangal Pandey - the person whose soul he then inhabits. Be it a sensitive film like Raakh or Dil Chahta Hai or a commercial potboiler like Raja Hindustani or Dil, he is always known to deliver. A person of impeccable taste, perfect manners and eclectic reading habits make him an endeared one for all his admirers. (An afterthought or two: Who would have thought that someone would indulge in mudslinging when a guy is this decent - literally an epitome of modesty and gentlemanliness! The pet hates, like what the guy who has commented irresponsibly on my review has, are understandable. But who would have thought that a national political party like the BJP would stoop so low? After all it is just the scheme of things that democratic citizens of India have to suffer -- pogroms are here to stay and spiral; the conspirators and their ilk are likely to prosper. One cant simply wish away all wrongs. It takes the courageous people like Aamir Khan to call a spade a spade! Let there be more of his kind; let the voice of sanity prevail. At a time when the nation is practically run by the media and the judiciary, we need to express our solidarity with the righteous. Let the youth of the country decide for themselves who their role models are. Rang De Basanti and Fanaa might be mere films caught in the vortex of politicking & Mr Aamir Khan might just be an excuse to voice our frustration, with the so-called system, or this charade of anti-NBA protests might just be a blatant attempt to stifle the voices that speak for the downtrodden, the deprived and the displaced, but the virtuous wont go unrewarded --- and I dont even make a sly reference to awards of any kind. Aamir Khan wouldnt have cared less!)
