A Bollywood Bank Robbery Movie, Finally!

Well, Bollywood seems to be coming out of its stereotypical mould these days. Dil Chatha Hai was a breath of fresh air, December 16 was a slick action movie with loads of special FX and now Aankhen- a crime caper continues with that trend. So here is plot of the movie in a nutshell.

You have Vijay Kumar Rajput played by Amitabh Bachchan is a bank manager He has devoted his whole life to a bank. He has chosen everything for the bank ranging from the furniture to the staff uniform. He is your perfect “employee of the year” material. He is so devoted to the bank that he has not even married. But he is schizophrenic. He beats up a teller so bad for cheating an old lady of a petty sum of money that he is kicked out of the bank. So seething with revenge, he masterminds the robbing of this very bank by three blind men. He kidnaps the brother of Neha (a teacher for the blind) and forces her to train the three blind men to rob the bank while he himselfs masterminds the training. What happens next forms the rest of the movie and revealing any further will spoil the movie for you. So, I’ll stop here.

Coming to the performances, Amitabh as the Mr Rajput is AWESOME! No one and I repeat no one could have done justice to this role. The very presence of this man on the screen electrifies it. The intensity in his eyes is something which has to be seen. I will forever be in awe of this personality. Akshay Kumar as Vishwas(one of the blind man) has given one of his best performances yet. Sushmita Sen as Neha and Arjun Rampal as Arjun(the second blind man) also impress. Special mention needs to be given to Paresh Rawal(the third blind man). He provides the comic relief in the movie and his performance is really outstanding.

The songs in the movie do really interfere with the flow of the story. The songs are actually quite hummable and there is some kind of song for everyone in the movie. I loved “Pathela Jeb” from the movie. It is a bindaas tapori song. I an sure those who listen to it will love it.

I personally like the training part of the movie, where the three blind men are trained to rob the bank. They really convince us that blind men can rob a bank and that I guess is the biggest achievement of the movie. I also loved all the scenes in which Amitabh was there. There is no bigger star in the business than him. Just look at him and you feel the same. HE IS GOD!

The ending to the movie was really cool. It paves the way for a sequel. Now that’s what I would be looking for. And one more thing, if you are asking for the cons, read some other review. Some say that they found the second part a bit slow paced, but in my personal opinion, I don’t think so. In my opinion, this movie could not have been better. PERIOD.

As the current trend on mouthshut is to be brief and to the point, I’ll just stop here and you guys can go and catch this movie.
