Nowadays, when Bollywood is experimenting with different kinds of films, here comes another predictable, love triangle film. The film I`m talking about is called ”Aashiq Banaya Aapne”, which has got the ”Chocolate” pair Emraan Hashmi and Tanushree Dutta in it.The film also stars Sonu Sood, who was last time seen in the disaster called ”Sheesha”.The film`s music has been very much appreciated by everyone and it`s already become a hit, but now what remains to be seen is that whether this film also becomes a hit or not?
”Aashiq Banaya Aapne”, directed by Aditya Datt, stars Emraan Hashmi, Sonu Sood, Tanushree Dutta (introducing) and Navin Nischon. This film is directed by the 21 year old director, Aditya Datt, who is younger than even the actors of the film.So is it true that a director as young as him can make a good film?Well, you`ll get to know the answer to this question, in this review.
”Aashiq Banaya Aapne” is the story of two college friends, Karan (Sonu Sood) and Sneha (Tanushree Dutta).Karan is a very shy and introvert kind of a person, who loves Sneha, but being a shy guy, he does not have the guts to tell this thing to Sneha. He remains nice and sweet with her and expects that Sneha, will also fall in love with him, by the time, but unfortunately, it doesn`t happen so.One night, Karan takes Sneha along with him to a party where he introduces Sneha to an old friend of his, called Vicky (Emraan Hashmi).Vicky, is an extrovert and the biggest flirt, completely opposite to what Karan is.Everyday Karan has a new girlfriend and everyday he is dating with some other girl.Vicky joins the same college in which Karan and Sneha study. After Vicky and Sneha interact more with each other, Sneha gets attracted to Vicky.Vicky also gets attracted to her and saw both get involved in an affair with each other.Karan gets disappointed when he learns that both of them are having an affair and knowing what a flirt Vicky is, Karan makes sure that he won`t betray Sneha.Vicky makes sure that he won`t hurt Sneha and that he will remain faithful to her.The romance between Vicky and Sneha strengthens with each passing day.One night, when Sneha goes to Vicky`s house, she finds out Vicky making love with some other girl.Sneha, is then heart-broken and decides of never talking to Vicky, again. Now, Sneha has only friend in her life and that is Karan.During this time, she gets more close to Karan and Karan feels that it is the best time for him to express his love to Sneha.Karan finally proposes to Sneha and they both get engaged with each other.Just after their engagement, Vicky is back to mess up things in their lives.
Emraan Hashmi is a fine actor but he has restricted himself to the same kind of roles and films. We have seen Emraan Hashmi in these kind of roles earlier in ”Murder”, ”Tumsa Nahin Dekha”, etc.I don`t know why is he trying to be the male version of Mallika Sherawat? Why is it necessary for him to kiss and have love-making scenes in each of his film? Now, he should try do some experimental roles, as well.In this film, he is okay, according to the requirements of his role, but he can do much more than this, and that he can do only if he is given better and more different kind of films and roles.
Sonu Sood, looks dead throughout the film.He wasn`t looking like an introvert or a shy person, he was looking more of a patient suffereing from tuberculosis. He carries an expressionless face, throughout the film.Let`s hope he gives a better performance in his forthcoming film ”Siskiyaan”.
Tanushree Dutta, the former Miss India, looks attractive and if she gets better roles, she might become a successful actress. As a debutante, she does a fine job, but she needs to improve her dialogue delivery, a bit.
Aditya Datt, the young and the debutante director fails to grip the audiences` attention. From the first scene, of the film, you realise that you`re in for watching the same old kind of a film. There is not even a single interesting scene, because this is such a run-off-the-mill kind of a film. The scenes between the three friends Karan, Sneha and Vicky are anything but interesting. Then, the scene, where Karan and Sneha enter Vicky`s room and Sneha gets upset finding him out with some other girl, is terribly executed. The second half is too predictable and boring. The scene where Karan finally tells Sneha about his feelings looks filmy and to add to it, the climax of the film is a terrible letdown.Screenplay, is completely half-baked.Sneha`s character is very poorly sketched. She looks confused throughout the film. Then, the sudden change in Karan`s character, from a positive to a negative one, in the climax is not justified at all.Editing is also bad.The film is a drag and there is no point in stretching a story, unnecessarily, which we have seen umpteen times before. Then, the drug issue was not required in the film, at all, when drugs are found from Vicky`s bag.Cinematography is okay.Himesh Reshammiya`s music has already become a hit and with this film`s soundtrack he has made his debut as a singer.Personally speaking, I don`t think that there is anything extra-ordinary about the film`s soundtrack.Only the title song, ”Aashiq Banaaya Aapne”, is the best song and I like it, but other songs are just okay to average.”Aap Ki Kashish” and ”Mar Jaawan Mit Jaawan”, are well picturised.
On the whole, ”Aashiq Banaya Aapne”, is the same ‘as-old-as-hills’ kind of a film, which has nothing new to tell.Watching this film is a complete waste of time and so it would be better if you stay away from this film. Those who like to see such ‘typical campus love stories’ may go ahead to see it once, but others who are not interested in watching the same thing all over again, beware!
