Love makes life live?

Plot- The movie is no where closer to the original Aashiqui neither in terms of story and treatment nor in term of script. The movie is about a singer Rahul who was once a very successful singer and is now witnessing his downfall because of his addiction, addiction to alcohol. He meets Aarohi guess where?ofcourse in a bar and realizes that she can be a great singer. The middle half of the movie before the intervals deals with hurdles she had to face and how Rahul ultimately leads her to success.Rahul is afraid of his addiction and tells Aarohi to leave him but Aarohi refuses to live the life of stardom without him. After interval Rahul is struggling with his addiction and Aarohi ‘s unconditional love to save him. But his addiction wins and he commits suicide so that he doesn’t become Aarohi’s weakness as Alcohol is his.

Analysis:-

The hero of this movie is definitely its song.I know a lot of people including I went for the music. Especially Bas tum hii ho is mindboggling. But rest of the songs are average to below average. After a very long time we see an out and out romantic movie. Mohit Suri’s direction is good but the script is big let down. The protagonist is suffering from Alcoholism not cancer that he cannot be save or treated. I guess they have never heard of rehabs. The actor Aditya Roy Kapoor is really promising and has portrayed the character of a frustrated, failing and addicted singer really nice. Shraddha Kapoor looked really pretty in the movie and pulled of the character of a dedicated lover really well. Rest of the cast has also played their parts really well. In acting department the movie deserves full marks.Screenplay and editing are also good but the story fails the entire effort.

The character of Rahul who had to carry in shoulder entire movie is weak, fragile and ambiguous as no explanation for his alcoholism is given. His character is uninspiring and this gives a very negative vibe to the movie  because even true love cannot save him. A better ending would have brought the movie to a much higher notch.

Verdict:

The movie is basically a newer but weaker version of Abhimaan that starred Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bhaduri. The actors are good the story could have been better. Songs are nice and the biggest crowd puller. I score it 2.5/5
