‘Ab tak Chappan’, the action thriller, came without any hype. The title and the poster were strange enough to attract me. I knew the movie would be something different. The movie is about the team of encounter specialist cops. They believe that solution to the crime is gunning down the criminals. It is an attempt to look into the psyche of these cops.
Movie kicks off with a boring and long mobile conversation between Saadhu and Zameer. But soon, grips the audience. Saadhu (Nana Patekar) leads the team of encounter specialists’ team. The first half deals with life of few crime branch officers, their instinct for blood, for ego and for position. Shooting is like their profession and a part of life. They delight in increasing the number of criminals they shot dead. Second half of a movie whirls only around Saadhu
Saadhu serves his department even at the cost of his family life. But soon confronts the obstacles from his senior and the system. He denies following them and joins the underworld. As the story progresses, audience enjoy the twist, the performances and a nicely crafted climax.
Performances are strong, the dialogues are raw, the scenes are realistic, the camera is restless and the direction is effective. The movie succeeds in pinning down the audience. Nana has come back with impact. All others have done extreemly well. Shimit Amin turns out to be brilliant as a director. And yes, Ramu fir champion.
The movie is very encouraging. I remember Nana saying something “ bibi mar gayi lekin mai dagmagaya nahi….force ka aadmi hu”. If you like seeing uncommon stuffs, this movie is a feast for you.
Enjoy.
