After a lot of mental torture from BSNL, I decided to change my ISP. Unfortunately the Airtel "port" was not empty to accommodate new connections. So I was left with the option of choosing from wireless ISPs. I already have Tata Photon Plus that I use while travelling and in cases of emergency. I also have a Vodafone 3G connection, again to be used as a backup and surfing on the mobile.
I was looking for a reliable connection that could serve me as the primary ISP for my home. I did a research on the services provided by ABC Broadband but the reviews on almost all the forums, including the ABC Broadbands customer forum on their website, were completely negative. If you go through the reviews, you will find only one customer out of 100 who said he is satisfied with the services.
And that 1 customer got a blow from all the others on the forum saying he was an agent of ABC Broadband. In spite of all the negative reviews, I decided to at least give it a try as I was already fed up with BSNL (Bhai Sahab Nahi Lagega). I called up an executive on 30 March 2013 and installation was done within 2 hours. Knowing the executive would deny all the allegations posted on online forums, I asked him if I was committing a mistake by getting ABC Broadband installed after going through all the negative reviews, and he said, "just try us once."
The connection got activated on the 1st of April 2013. I was pleasantly surprised. They provided speed as promised. I wanted to check ABC Broadband before I got BSNL disconnected, which I got rid of on 1st May (after 1 month successful trial of ABC Broadband). I further waited to this date (July 22, 2013) before posting my review, and let me tell you guys, ABC Broadband has been wonderful to date.
It has not disappointed me at all. It has only once been down for a couple of hours, and as soon as I called customer care at around 11 pm, there was an IVR message saying "we are aware of the problem and we are working on it." Simply Great.
With BSNL, firstly you wont find anyone after 4:30 pm if you have any problem. And even if you are able to get hold of someone, they are completely unaware of any network problem (even if the undersea cable was cut). Then the blame game begins, call the lineman, call the internet department, call the SDO, call the manager, call the chief manager, and ultimately get 0% satisfaction. All in all, ABC Broadband in my area is simply the best. However, as there are 99% negative reviews on ABC Broadband, I would recommend you to be very watchful and get a feasibility survey conducted before getting it finally installed.
For the bill, I was paying Rs. 1100 (approx) per month for 8 GB data plan with BSNL (4 MBPS speed, which I never got) but now my monthly bill is limited to Rs. 711 per month for 20 GB data (2 MBPS speed, which is what I always get). To sum things up, ABC Broadband is just great, at least for me.
How long can they sustain this quality of service is still a question in my mind, which only time will tell. All those who found ABC Broadbands services to be poor, please wish me luck. :)
