I took this connection when I was in Bangalore, because in my area I did not have any option, the sales guy came and told me regarding the plans. I took a 2 Mbps quarterly plan. They installed it the very next day and the speed was good and I thought that maybe I made the right decision but alas I was hoping too much, 3 days later no connection called up their customer care they told me that an engineer would come and fix it, he came and said he has fixed it, it worked for a few days and then I decided to shift houses and asked them to re-install at my new location, which they did quiet promptly. Now at my residence I was patient with them, I would be surfing and suddenly it would stop working and even when it was working I would get speeds like 5 kbps-10 kbps. Kept calling customer care and they kept saying it would be fixed in 24 hours. I finally lost my cool one day and decided the cut the connection and get Airtel which was available in my area.
I gave the disconnection request on 9th August and stopped using the connection altogether on 12th August. A lady from the retention team called to confirm, I told her the problem and she kept offering discounts saying that they would charge me half the amount, but I was adamant. Hence she gave up and said I will receive a call from them in 2 days time.
I received a call 3 weeks later from the engineer saying that he will come to collect the equipment. I asked him to come, he came collected the equipment gave me an acknowledgement and left and 5 days later I receive a call from their side saying, I have no dues outstanding and they sent me a No-due certificate by e-mail to confirm the same.
Just yesterday I received a call from a lawyer claiming to be from Delhi, but my True caller said his mobile number was from MP. He told me that a case is being filed against me for non-payment. I asked on whose behalf you are filing he told on behalf of ABC Broadband, I said I have a no-due certificate. But he said he is holding the case papers in hand and told me to make the payment in one hour or he will file the case in Delhi HC and I would need to come down to Delhi for the hearing. Unfortunately for him I was a bit more knowledgeable than him, I told him (the rest of the conversation is in direct speech).
Me: Really, you are a lawyer?
Him: Yes, I am right outside Delhi HC now. Getting ready to file the case.
Me: Ok, So when do I have to be in Delhi?
Him: Within 24 hours.
Me: Where is my summons?
Him: I am giving the information over telephone.
Me: Sorry, but are your sure, you are a lawyer? Because a legal notice can only be conveyed through registered post and e-mail ID.
Him: How do you know? You are not a lawyer.
Me: Correct I am not a lawyer, but I have so much knowledge that a notice cant be served through telephone.
Him: Ok, yes you are right.
Me: Ok so you say ABC Broadband has employed your services right?
Him: Yes
Me: Whats the amount?
Him: Only 3497 INR
Me: Ok so they claim I owe them 3497 rs, right?
Him: Yes.
Me: Ok, do one thing call me in 10 minutes, I am calling my brother he is in Delhi and works for the Army let him come and deal with you directly.
Him: No, I dont meet people without appointment.
Me: You very well know you are in trouble, I have your mobile number.
Him: I am in no trouble, you will be in trouble for not paying bills
He used an abusive word to finish the sentence which I will not post here. Thats when I lost it and I screamed my lungs through the phone. He kept cutting my call I kept calling him from different numbers and kept screaming at him. I told him now you do what you want and I will be reporting you to the cops.
He called me again today and I decided to load up on some knowledge regarding the same. Again he had no answers as to how he can file a collections claim directly to HC that too in Delhi. I have given him one last warning if he calls again, I will report it to the cops.
