Pure Harassment

ABC Broadband’s internet might be good but their termination service is horrible. I had this connection in Bangalore and as I was leaving the city I had requested for the termination of my connection in 3rd week of December 2013. Everything went fine, just that a company’s executive was supposed to collect the modem from my premises. He didn’t show up the day he promised to. Neither the next day nor the subsequent days.

I was in Delhi now and I get a call from the same guy who was supposed to collect the modem that he’d be coming. I had told him I have vacated the premises and he could just take the modem with him. He called me later saying that he is unable to take it because the house is locked. I suggested him to get it opened(it was a vacant house) from the neighbours(who were related to the owner). Not sure if he actually followed my advice.

Few days later I received an email from ABC Broadband that I need to pay them Rs. 1500 for the modem. I promptly replied explaining the situation and mentioned it was a fault at their executive’s part who didn’t show up. I receive an email from ABC Broadband stating my full and final settlement amount payable as zero. I felt relieved that the matter was resolved.

No, it wasn’t. It was a beginning of a torture cycle. I would get the same’recovery’ email from ABC Broadband over and over again, where I would again promptly respond stating my argument. And eventually they would also send me their full and final settlement emails stating my dues as zero. Later, I got an email titled’Demand Notice’ stating the same story of Rs. 1500. I tried to call the contact person’s name mentioned in the email but in vain. I responded to that email as I would to other such emails and I received the same full and final settlement email stating my dues as zero.

Today I received a call from an advocate who claimed he was calling from Tis Hazari court on behalf of ABC Broadband. He told me that the company is looking to take the matter to the court. He suggested that the amount is small so I should go for out of court settlement and pay them the amount. I told him I have all the proofs of full and final settlement emails from the company but he didn’t budge. I called up customer care to confirm about my dues. There weren’t any. I called back that lawyer and asked him to put me through to the personnel from the company who approached him.

That ABC Broadband personnel said full and final settlement only reflects the usage amount and not the modem amount. I apprised him of the fact that I had once received a full and final settlement email mentioning the modem amount. And that I had responded to that email as well clarifying my stance following which I got another full and final settlement email from the company stating zero dues. But no, that mister asked his advocate to prepare for the court proceedings.

Well, I don’t have time and energy for court proceedings, something which we all know how efficient they are in our country. Hence, I thought of paying the amount to get rid of the situation.

PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THIS CONNECTION!
