Thumbs down !!

This whole episode with ABC Broadband started, when I was shifted to Pune(Wakad) 2012 Area. Was then working with Wipro. I had to take up a broadband connection in my flat, as I used to watch/download lots of movies. I checked with a lot of ISP providers. But to my utter disappointment, most  of them(Airtel, ACT etc) turned me down telling "No feasibility". I was quite comfortable with Airtel for more than 2 years in Bangalore.

Guys honestly, If you have feasibility for Airtel in your area, don’t hesitate GO FOR IT. You cant get a better broadband provider. But make sure that you go with the Wired broadband rather than the Wireless or 4g connectivity.

Ok returning to ABC Broadband, I had no other option and finally ended up in calling one of their executive. He promptly came to my apartment and gave me the tariff details. I made my requriement quite clear, that if I take up 2Mbps plan, then I definitely need the promised speed to watch movies etc.

The guy kept on praising ABC Broadband, and I felt a bit assured by his talks. The Wireless device was mounted on the terrace and the connection started working. All was fine for 2 days.

From the 3rd day, I noticed that instead of 2 Mbps, I just got a meagre 0.5 Mbps of speed. And to my horror, I was like waiting like an idiot, hoping that its just a spike and the speed might come up again. Only in vain. I waited for 2 more days, and I lost my patience. Called up the customer care. Their technical guy arrived after 3 days and checked. He was quite frank with me.

He explained me what exactly is happening with ABC Broadband. The wireless device kept on my terrace contacts the next nearest ABC Broadband tower. There are 2 factors which creates speed lag. If there are any high buildings between my receiver and the tower, it will block the signal from reaching properly.

Here comes the worst part. The single transmitter at the tower is only capapble of transmitting 40Mbps data at a point of time.  Ideally if ABC Broadband has 20 customers who need 2Mbps plan, then only 20 customers should be tagged to a single transmitter. This will ensure that even if all 20 customers come online together, they wont experience any drop in speed. In reality a single transmitter is tagged with close to 40+ customers, as ABC Broadband very well knows that all customers would never come online at the same time.

Enough said of the techy stuff.

Bottom line is that ABC Broadband is using wireless technology, which itself is unreliable and on top of that the bandwidth is shared. Once all customers comes online together, its total Havoc.

BYE BYE ABC Broadband. You guys can improve your network or keep cheating customers, because most of the customers never understand the technical aspects. But there are people out there who understands that a 2Mbps connection means a 256kpbs download speed. REMEMBER THAT.

ABC Broadband:Very soon everybody will start recognizing your true colours. So buckle up and improve yourself.

Anybody opting for ABC Broadband, this is sort of a premonition. Keep your eyes open, discuss and then finalize, cause I would definitely give a thumbs down for ABC Broadband!
