In April 2010, I wanted to take up ABC Broadband broadband and called up the agent to install the same at my home.Within a day, an engineer came and confirmed that the signal strength is good and he would install the broadband within 2 days after depositing the one month advance and installation fee - which was around Rs 800.
I handed over the cheque and waited for 3-4 days and no one turned up.I contacted the customer care and then they sent an engineer for installation.When the installation engineer came - he said there is no signal strength in my flat.
I was shocked to hear that, when they had to come and take the money, the connectino was good, and how come there is no signal strength now.
Helpless, I called the agent who took my money to return all the documentations and cheque of Rs 800.
To this the agent started showing his true colours.He kept on promising that he would return everything the next day-but that next day never came for him.
It seems ABC Broadband people are only busy collecting cheques - and seldom have any time to return the money if no installation is done.
I kept on calling the agent regularly and one day, he offered me to install- reliance broadband - with same documentation - because his friend worked with reliance.He refused giving back my money as he said he had already deposited the cheque and it will go to their headquarter for reimbursement.
My real fight started then, I took his boss number - who was yet another useless ABC Broadband employee who just kept making false claim that he would return my money / do the installation. With such pathetic responses to customer even before the broadband was installed, I had decided my mind that I would never use its services.
A month passed and nothing came in for me. I decieded to take stern actions - not because it was a question of Rs 800 but because it was a case of cheating and leaving the customer helpless.
I took the email IDs of their apellate authority (Nagesh Prasad)and all the higher ups that I could arrange - and kept on sending remionder mails.Everytime I used to hear from Nagesh Prasad - saying the matter will be resolved ASAP and nothing used to happen.
After nearly 3 months of exchanging mails - I decided to take the next step and warned them of doing negative publicity for ABC Broadband in and around my locality and thourgh other media sources.
It did shake Nagesh Prasad - but poor he- it seems even he does not have enough powers to resolve few issues - 15 days passed and the only thing taht came to me was blank assurance.
I finally warned them of going to Consumer court if my money is not returned.
After about 10 days , they finally delivered me a cheque of 800.
I fortunately did not get chance to test their internet speed - but I am more than happy with a lesser speed and higher internet charges if its supported by good customer care,
ABC Broadband is a big NOOOO if you want peace and dont want to be duped.
If still you want to go for it, dont give money befiore installation is complete.
