As you know ABN has only few branches, only 2 in Mumbai, and not many ATM centers also. For cash withdrawals you have to pay some fees if you are withdrawing at ATMs of other banks. Many of their ATM centers, mentioned on their site as well as published in their bulletin/brochure, do not exist. I was traveling to Lonavala, and thought I shall withdraw some cash from their Vashi, New Mumbai ATM which was on my way to Lonavala. I was dumb spoken when I found that their ATM center at Vashi, New Mumbai did not exist. When enquired at the Shop No. 20, Bombay Annexe, Near McDonalds, Sector 17, Vashi, Navi Mumbai, supposed to be ABN Amro Bank ATM, I was told that ABN had closed their ATM two years back and this incident was in Feb/Mar 2005.
Many of their centers, again mentioned on their site as well as published in their bulletin/brochure, do not exist or do not accept payments. On 31st March, 2005 when I arranged to deposit payment in Uran, Raigad at : “ COMPTECH TELECONSULTING, Shop No 11, Ayodhya Hsg Society, Kamtha Road, Opp. Palvi Hospital, Uran, Mumbai-400702, Working hours-09:00:00 - 21:00:00, No Holiday, “ There was no shop by that name. Thereafter the payment was sent to a shop in Mulund and again it was found the shop was not accepting the payment.
In August 2005, I wanted to purchase an IBM Centrino notebook costing approx. Rs.45, 000/- and wanted to have it financed under EMI repayment option. I was told to contact their 24 hours Bank By Phone Service to the avail the facility of easy pay plan. However, as has been described elsewhere in the reviews of this product, it takes so long to get to their Customer Service Executive that you feel like disconnecting the call and so exactly I did.
In short fewer ATMs, non consumer friendly customer service is the hallmark of ABN Amro Cards. Probably they are reluctant to serve non-corporate customers.
