There are only 3 good points about this ABN Amros Freedom Card.
Prompt processing of application. I got my card within 10 days! Giants like Citi and HSBC take minimum 6 weeks.
One can earn 2 points per 100 spent. Most other cards give 1 per 100.
They have got a photo card option, which is a good feature in this age of rampant credit card fraud. Even the well-known vendors like HSBC, HDFC, Stanchart do not have that option.
Now the bad ones!
You will be shocked to know that ABN Amro does not provide any Internet transaction facility for its credit card holders. That means a lot in this networked world. To be more precise, that means you CANNOT: i) book railway/air tickets online, ii) buy anything online safely (giving credit card no. and date of birth to buy something on the Net is the most stupid thing to do!), iii) query your statement online and lot more!
The initial PIN provided for the card cannot be changed from ABN Amro ATMs! To change the PIN you have to replace the card itself! PIN change is a basic required functionality of any card - credit, debit or ATM.
They do not provide with any TPIN for phone banking, although they have the phone banking factility. So how do you avail that facility? By authenticating yourself giving your i) name, ii) credit card no., iii) mothers maiden name, iv) address and v) date of birth, every time you call them up. A real pain, trust me!
I wonder how they are surviving in this hi-tech era! Any suggestion?
