I have been a customer of ABN AMRO bank (savings account and Credit card for almost four years now).
I was recently upgraded to a Gold Card. And the problems began.
What the problem is immaterial, but the best part is that its been over 1 month since the issue has not been resolved.
Finally I was able to escalate the issue to one Mr Rakesh. Mr Rakesh confidently told me that the latest statement will be sent by FAX in next two hours.
After the FAX did not arrive for more than four hours, I called back. Here is the conversation snippet:
I call the call centre, Mr Debashish from ABN takes my call.
Me: May I talk to Mr Rakesh, I was talking with him a few hours back, and need to get in touch
Debashish:Sure sir, may I know you Name?
Me: Param Singh
.... a few minutes of silence.....
Debashish: Uhh... Mr Padam Jeet Singh, I am sorry Mr Rakesh is not in the office at the moment.
Me: Are you lying to me, how did you even know my full name?
Debashish: No no sir, I am not lying. Actually Mr Rakesh told me that your FAX will be sent in next two hours.
Me: But you just told me his not in the office, now you are telling me he is saying the FAX will be received in next two hours! Can I atleast talk to him?
Debashish: Sorry sir, actually we have moved our office, and Mr Rakesh is busy setting up his cabin right now.
Me: Thats absolute bullshit! Why shuold I suffer if you have moved office? Can I talk to another senior manager if thats the case
Debashish:No senior manger is taking any calls because of the office getting shifted.
..... a few minutes later I call back with a different name.....
I call the call centre, Ms. Preeti from ABN takes my call.
Me: May I talk to Mr. Rakesh?
Preeti: Sure sir, may I have your name?
Me: Surinder Singh
Preeti: Just a mintute sir
.... call gets connected immediately....
Rakesh: Yes Mr Surinder, how may I help you?
Me: This is not Surinder, this is Padam jeet Singh. How dare you even ignore a Gold Card holder like that?
Rakesh: I am really sorry sir, but thats not the case!
Me: What happened to the FAX you were suppsed to send over 5 hours back?
Rakesh: I am really sorry sir, there is some issue with our systems here. Please give me another 24 hours to sort out your issue.
Me: WTF, you just dilly dallied me for over 20 days now, and you need another 24 hours?
Rakesh: I promise you sir, your issue will be resolved in next 24 hours.
The problem is that the Balance Amount due shows 38, 000 for one month.
The transactions listed contain only four entries, and those are of the card upgrade charges.
I still do not know for what the 38000 is for!!! My monthly spending is just over Rs 5000 and even ABN cannot explain why it is showing 38000!
Now thats the level of professionalism these fuc*&@# have. Never ever get a ABN AMRO Card. Get a HDFC, HSBC, Citibank but never ever get ABN!
