Neat, Reliable, Lightweight and Compact

I am a journalist and there’s a lot of writing I need to do on the move. sitting in not-so-writer-friendly environments like airport lounges, railway platforms and compartments, hotel lobbies, cafeterias, park benches and the backseats of cars. A laptop is a compulsory writing tool for me. Now there was a time when I used to lug around a massive, clunky Lenovo notebook. It was heavy, it was inconvenient and it was awkward. And most of the time, I would be scurrying around looking for plug points to charge it.

My hunt for a better solution ended in my buying an Acer Aspire One D270. My daughter uses one for her schoolwork, as does a lot of her friends. She recommended it. I used her netbook on a few occasions and found that it suited me fine. And the price tag was really low - I got a special promo price of Rs. 15, 500/- at an Acer Mall.

Now I don’t even need to carry a separate laptop bag. The Acer Aspire One fits into my handbag easily. That’s a big boon at airports where you need to take the laptop out and place it in a separate tray. It’s so lightweight that it’s no sweat at all.

I started out by telling you about all the awkward places that I have to write in. The Acer Aspire One is a boon in such locations. The battery lasts for anywhere between 2 hours 40 minutes to 3 hours. One can write without keeping that worried eye on the power meter, waiting in wretched anticipation for the low-battery warning to start beeping.

And when I am relaxing, I can add a pair of ordinary earplugs or headphones and listen to music or watch movies. The sound quality is remarkable. And the 320 GB HDD can hold a whole lotta music, movies, television shows, music videos. and more!

A lot of people I have spoken with have rather unkind things to say about Acer laptops. Well, I can’t complain! I am very, very happy with my little Acer Aspire One. I don’t think I will be able to switch to another laptop after this one. certainly not those heavy monstrosities like the Lenovo, the Dell and the Toshiba!
