Contrary to popular belief, a lot of very successful fashion and luxury companies have come out of Germany. Adidas is one of them. The company started in the 1920s with the brothers Adolf and Rudolf Dassler. They started out with making custom fit sports shoes for athletes. Soon after in 1928 their shoes were used in the Olympics, other success stories followed.
In 1933 both brothers became members of the Nazi Party in Germany, and their sports shoe company was instead used in wartime to manufacture anti-tank weaponry with the help of forced french labor. Most certainly the darkest period in the history of this company.
