Impossible is Nothing

My favourite television commercial adidas "+ 10" ad featuring Jose and his chubby lil’ buddy.

Adidas announces the launch of its global football advertising campaign "Impossible Team" for the 2006 FIFA World Cup™ in Germany featuring the world’s best footballers from the past and present.

The new +10 Adidas commerical - ( Part of the Impossible is Nothing series ), is certainly the newest adidas "Impossible Is Nothing" one, featuring José, a Spanish (?) kid wearing an old West Germany jersey who stands before a group of 37 superstar footballers from past and present. His mission? To pick a team and get ready to play the biggest game of their life…

It’s so creative and the boys are adorable and hilarious! I love seeing all of the great players come together and being led by the Pedro and Jose. I guess the background song is by Jim Noir .

It’s so awesome!! Great job Adidas!

Not only does this ad appeal to the Adidas target market of teenagers, with modern day heroes like David Beckham and Thierry Henry, but it also carries a retro appeal for older fans, who remember the showmanship of the great Brazilian Zico or the French maestro Michel Platini.

The story unfolds one balmy afternoon, when José’s chubby friend challenges him to a game of football… and that’s where they let their imaginations take over! They don’t choose other kids. One by one, they name their starting lineups, which include some the biggest names at this year’s World Cup .These include (clockwise from top-left) Japan’s Nakamura, Argentina’s Riquelme, Germany’s Kahn and Ballack (adidas is a German company after all), England’s Beckham, and France’s Viera.

Some fun ensues when José chooses 70s legend Franz Beckenbaur to be on his team! Chubby says: "Beckenbaur?!" Then Zidan whispers some thing in the chubby kid’s ear, and you check it ourt yourself in the commercial. Not to be outdone, Chubby picks French legend Michel Platini, with the help of current captain Zinedine Zidane. Looks like the French jersey hasn’t changed much over the years…

The game kicks off as both team captains give instructions to their superstar teams. I found this part where Chubby tells Robben and Lampard to switch flanks particularly funny, haha. At the game’s climax, Lampard blasts a volley and claims a goal… but Kahn insists that the ball did not cross the line! Just when a decision is about to be made…José’s mum shouts at him to come home and SHE IS MY WINNER .

I think Adidas was very smart in picking this, so many athletes will say.. you know what, I CAN because impossible is nothing .It changes your frame of mind, it makes you have confidence in yourself, training your mind in positive thinking. Its what makes you strong and able to keep pushing when you feel like you have nothing left.

Impossible is nothing!

Adidas shoots and scores. Unlike the U.S. team.
