Hi all, today I got a call strange call from an agent claiming to be part of Birla Sun life Insurance. He first asked me that whether I had any policy in past with Birla Sunlife and whether I had faced any loss. I had enrolled for an Insurance policy with Birla Sunlife and had incurred a loss of Rs 30, 000, which is a different story. Now this agent, Mr. Patil, claims that he is part of Birla Sun life Insurance and has been appointed to connect to people who have incurred losses so as to repay the balance amount to them.
As per him, the plan formed by the Birla team is that I need to submit few documents like residential proof, age proof etc. and a cheque of Rs 25, 000 to Birla. All this will be collected by their agents from my residence. And after 180 days, I will be eligible for an amount of Rs 95, 000 (break up: 25, 000 (cheque deposit) + 30, 000 (my initial loss) + 40, 000 (interest to loss). Now this looks good, too good. He further assured me that Birla team is trying to regain the confidence from its customers hence they are trying to repay the loss amount back to its customers. He later confirmed that these details should not passed onto any agent or any centres since they are doing without providing any commission to agents. He told he will send an agent in two days to my residence to collect the documents and cheque.
At first I was really pleased that after at last the company has started to do something good for its customers. I confirmed to him that I am ok with the deal and ready to submit the required details. But before that I required a mail from you stating the amount that I need to deposit, the amount I will be receiving and the tenure after which the amount will be credited. To this he said yes, he will do it and asked me for my mail id. I gave him my mail id and asked to call me back once he has sent the mail. After about 10 minutes Mr. Patil calls me back from another mobile number and says that he had a discussion with his manager and as per his manager he won’t be able to send any details on email since their server is connected to the centre to which the agents have access. So the information will be leaked and the agents will come to know about it. Now this made me sceptical and I asked him that I won’t be paying any amount without having the confirmation on mail. To which he said we have our limitations and we won’t be able to send an email confirmation. And also this conversation is being recorded which will be proof.
I replied him back then unless I get a written proof I won’t be able to make any payment. He said ok sir, if you are not interested we will pass on your eligible amount to your insurance agent. I said that will be ok since there is no harm to me in that. The biggest surprise was that Mr. Patil had my Insurance Policy number and also the amount that I had withdrawn post closure. Team, I cannot confirm if this is Fake or Genuine but I think it’s not 100% risk free. If you guys come across such things think more than 10 times before you invest your money. There are many Gabbar’s waiting to snatch your hard earned money from you. Beware
