The new incarnation

NINE LIVES

well, since nobody is ready to write a review about this fantastic

album, being an aerosmith fan, I ll take this arduous job of writing the

review.

Let me start with some facts. Nine Lives is the twelfth

studio album of Aerosmith, released March 18, 1997. this is the only album of

aerosmith that has reached #1 at the Billboard Charts. After the Sucess of

their previous album Get a Grip, lead singer Steven Tyler had a motorcycle

accident and was bed ridden for months. Fans thought aerosmith was over, but

the singer proved he was only down but not out with this come back album, hence

the title Nine Lives.

Nine Lives

The album kicks off with the title track. Dont turn the volume high in

the beginning, because the cat’s screaming at the intro may scare your

neighbors. this song is a very typical aerosmith song that has the sound of the

fast paced tracks of the album but a fresh sinister tune. every musician is

loudest in this song, singer screaming his lungs out, lead guitar blowing off

the amplifier and the drums are thunderous. a perfect song to say that they are

not yet dead but still alive and rocking.

Fallin in Love(is hard on the knees)

this song take us to the new sound of the band which is followed

throughout this album and the next album’just push play’. melodies in the

verse section and gets loud at the chorus and then rocks out in the solo and

towards the end. a new style that make you  and keep you’fallin in love’

with this song. there are also a lot sexual innuendo lyrics that sound funny,

like

’My old libido has been blowing a transistor’, ’Don’t give me no

lip, I’ve got enough of my own’

Hole In My Soul

this is a Ballad. this song is not as loud as the previous aerosmith

ballads. they have kept this one simple yet beautiful. the lyrics are more sad

and angrier than the usual. the intro and ending part is  most gracious

about this song. it’s one of those song that steven tyler makes you feel the

pain through his voice and the way he exaggerates on certain words. a sure

heart touching song. the video is also very interesting, it has an ironic theme

but has a happy ending.
