Mahendra Behl (Kiran Kumar) a man whose only aim in life is to become rich, who does not know the meaning of love, leaves his wife and son to marry a rich lady who is ailing and about to die from cancer.
After her death he returns to take his family back.
His wife (Beena) a very determined and principal minded lady refuses to go with her husband because of the attitude of her husband but lets her son go with his father.
Mahendra Behl walks out with the son leaving his wife behind.
This son grows up to be a handsome happy go lucky Casanova who falls in love with classmate.
Incidentally his mother has just been deputed as the principal of the same college, they are studying.
How Raj (Aamir Khan) and Nikita (Neelam) meet and how the mother and son meet is what this musical emotional love story.
Animosity has existed between the families of Raj and Nikita’s respective fathers.
But their children have grown up without any knowledge of this animosity.
They plan to marry, and accordingly inform their respective families of their plans.
Both the families view this alliance with anger, and refuse to bless the young couple.
Raj and Nikita have one choice - marry the person their respective families’ have selected for them - or elope.
One of Aamir Khan’s earlier movies, it may have not been watched as much as other latest releases of him.
But the movie is a very cute lovestory.
Aamir Khan as a disobedient college student looks very good and Neelam was very beautiful.
The story is not very outstanding but it was O.K.
The music is also not bad.
The main beauty of the movie for me is its background music.
