Engaged Agarwal Packers to pack, transport and unpack goods and Car from Residence at Gurgaon to Bangalore. Quotation for Rs.85, 000/- received and forwarded to Max Hypermarkets, PO raised.
Packing done on 17th April. Packers arrived at 12:00 noon against the commitment of 9:00am to pack. Packing started at 12:30. Packing done in a hurry. At around 6:30 pm, it started to get dark, and material (food / cosmetics etc.) just dumped in cartons and packed.
Car collected at 6:30 outside my residence. Asked to sign papers which was done. Documents handed over to the person collecting the car. Car delivery promised on 27th April.
Received a call on 27th April from Sunil Chauhan that there has been an accident to the vehicle carrying the car. The accident happened 2 days before according to the caller. Told me that there is minor damage** to the vehicle. I needed to contact my insurance company as they refused to entertain them.
No details of the accident, accident site etc. was given. Had to make a few calls to get proper information to give to insurance company. However was not clear why my insurance company was being asked to pay.
Sent a reply on 28th August asking for details of damage and other information, which was never replied to
I was unable to get any information on the status of the car or any other details after that. I called up Kaushik (Sales person in Delhi, only person to take my call) and told me about the car. He assured that the car will be repaired and delivered to me in 10 days. I told him that it was a new car with accessories fitted, and he said “We will give you the car as it was”.
Unloading of household goods happened on the 29th April, Unpacking happened on 1st May. Damages to household goods. Followed up with Agarwal Packers and Mr. O.P.Sharma, the branch head of Bangalore starts to give vague answers and stops picking up calls. After that I got in touch with Ms. Priyanka, VP Operations, who assures me that the issues regarding Household goods will be taken care of and she will follow up regarding my car. She also assured me that I will not need to do any running around for the car. It will be repaired by Agarwal Packers completely and handed over to me.
Car arrives in Bangalore on 4th May, deposited in Mandovi Motors Yesvantpur, more than 30 kms from where I stay despite protests from me.
People from Agarwal Packers come to my residence on 10th May to get insurance papers signed from my wife and collect the original RC book.
Constant follow up on progress yields no feedback from anyone. Repeated requests for a car for interim period turned down. Told by Mr. O.P.Sharma “ Accident ho gaya, hum kya Karen”. There has been and accident, what do we do. Your car, you suffer.
Called various people for getting work started on Car, no reply from anyone, or re-directed. Repeated mails sent, not acknowledged or replied.
Got a call from Mandovi Motors on 26th May that I need to deposit Rs.30, 000/- so that work can start. Called up Mr. O.P.Sharma to ask him to make the payment where he refused and said that the payment needs to be made by him, and after the work is done he would pay me 5, 000 to 10, 000. This was a rude shock to me. When I said that all this while Agarwal Packers had assured me that they will repair the car and give, then what is this. I was told that they had thought that the amount would be four to five thousand, but the estimate for repairs is around Rs.2 lac out of which Insurance company will pay around Rs.1.5 lac. So they decided that they will not do anything.
Called up Priyanka about 25 times, she did not pick up phone. Called up from different mobile number and she picked it up. She said she was too embarrassed to pick my call. Then told me that the decision from the company is to pay me Rs.10, 000/-, which I can take anytime and give a statement saying that this is full and final settlement against all claims. This was shocking to me and I told tham that I do not want any money from them but just want my car repaired and given back. The only mistake I did was to hire them, no other mistake. It was their negligence due to which the accident happened, their negligence due to which the car got damaged to the extent it did and so they should repair it. It is a very new car, less than 7 months old when I handed it to them.
