I had decided on Agarwal Packers and Movers for my local shifting within Bangalore because I wanted my floor standing speakers, LCD tv and other expensive appliances to be transported safely. The reviews were great. Big corporate offices recommended them. And the excutive who came for the survery to give rough quote was a thorough professional. Their charges were sky high when compored to the local movers and packers - 10, 000 rs for local shifting(just 21 kms).
The truck and packers came 3 hours late.
There were only 4 people of which two of them were very old. These two elderly men took 4 hours to pack half the utensils! The third guy didn’t even know how to remove a washing machine. In effect one guy did all the work.
Since it started raining, we went down to see whether they have kept any of our stuff out in the rain. To our shock, we saw an open truck which was covered by a tarpaulin sheet(and this sheet was full of holes and water was generously dripping inside). We called the office and they said that for local shifting they send only this van. Closed vans are used only at night!
By evening, something went wrong with the service lift in our apartment and these guys tried to fold our mattress so that it will fit into the lift. I asked them not to fold and still they were not ready to do so. After shouting at them, they took it through stairs.
By the time they finished packing and loading it was 8 PM. We started off to our new place. And we discovered that the truck had only one headlight! And the driver was speeding ignoring all the speed breakers and potholes on the road. We had to stop the driver twice and had to ask him to follow our car.
They were supposed to shift and unpack things at our place by 6 PM. It got over after 12 in the midnight
It was a horrible experience in every sense. Maybe they are good when inter-city shifting is done. But they are terrible for local shifting in Bangalore. Local shifters do a better job at a very low price(6k lesser!).
