I would hereby like to narrate my harrowing experience with Agrawal Packers(DRS Dilip Roadlines P Ltd) and movers a couple of months back. In fact it was the efficiency by which the company had done the domestic shifting of my in laws from South Delhi to Ghaziabad last July prompted me to consider Agrawal packers and movers once again without even giving a second thought for other packers!
There is an old saying in English that morning shows the day! This was no exception in their case also! Just a couple of days before shifting my mother in law received a confirmation call from Mr Suraj of their office who also requested my mother in law to split the entire packing process in 2 days instead of the initially planned same day. My mother in law could not confirm anything at that point of time, however after discussing within ourselves, we decided to do the packing in 2 days and accordingly I informed Mr Shobha Kant Arya, who came for survey and quotation.
Shockingly on the first day of packing after having waited till 1.00 pm when nobody turned up, I called Mr Arya who flatly told me to confirm from the office about the schedule. Utterly irritated at this behaviour of their exeutive, I started calling various office numbers without any luck! At this point of time I got a call from Mr Suraj again for confirmation of our packing the next day(16.01.2011)(We had initially planned for the entire packing on 16 Jan only). When I told this gentleman(Suraj) that I had personally informed Mr Arya to conduct the packing in 2 days, he(Mr Suraj) said that they had no information about this probably because Mr Arya had resigned from his post a couple of days back and hence showing least interest in execution of the pending orders! You really cannot expect such lack of coordination from the nation’s leading Packer Company!
The packing started on the next day 2 hours behind schedule. This time the manpower was also lesser than the previous time and what was more important was that they were far from being called well trained! Apart from proper packing knowledge, they did not even have a minimum idea of optimum utilisation of the truck space while loading. The poor quality of packing can be gauged from the fact that although we had shifted to the adjacent apartment, majority of our valuable items were bursting open from the boxes even before reaching the end destination! In this context I am really sorry to tell you that this is a very rare phenomenon even with the local C grade packers, leave alone a leading name called Agrawal Packers! In spite of the fact that both the apartments had lift facilities, it took almost 12 hours for just packing. Loading and unloading!(Since it was already past midnight, we made the full payment and requested your supervisor to do the unpacking the next day!)
The next day, both the gentlemen deputed from your office for unpacking were highly trained, however it was found that a number of valuable items( like invertor, almirah) have been badly damaged in transit, the worst thing being many of the damaged items were purchased very recently! On further unpacking, it was found that virtually no glass item has managed to escape the wrath of this so called nation’s leading packer!
I had written this letter to the feedback on their website but probably they have forgotton the basic mantra of marketing that in these days of cut throat competition, retaining an existing customer is far more important than vouching for new customers, hence they have paid least attention to giving me at least a courtesy reply appologising for the matter!
I will forward this link to their MD in Hyderabad demanding compensation for the damages and the mental agony, in the extreme case I’ll be forced to seek help from my ex employer the Times Of India to publish this story of agony and thereby caution potential customers to think twice before zeroing in on Agarwal packers!
