Agneepath is amitabh bachnans best movie in my opinion and best performance of his life, he can’t do better then this. The movie came out the same year rajkumar santoshi’s ghayal came and in which sunny deol got the best actor award for ghayal.
Some of the scenes from the movie are copied from a hollywood flick called scarface in which al pacino stars and and pacino changes his voice in scarface, so does amitabh in agnepaath.
Agneepath is named aftera poem written by a indian poet called harivash rai bachnan, who also is the real life father of amitabh bachnan. In the movie the poem is about peace and one standing up for himself. The poem is told to young Vijay ( amitabh) by his father master Dinanath ( alok nath) schoolmaster of the village, whom everyone respects and agrees with.
Dinanath wishes to bring electricity, water to this poor village that people are living in called mandwa. Enters kancha cheena ( danny denzongpa) the school master is killed by kancha cheena and vijay’s family escape the village and becomes beggers in the street of mumbai.
The death of his father and later the attempted rape of his mother and crimes that go unpunishes by the law. Vijay wants revenge from kancha cheena and he wants to be rich. When he was leaving the village he swears that he’ll give that village to his mom one day for a gift.
Twenty years later vijay becomes a man ( amitabh) a gangster partial to white suits and black eyeliner. His own gang becomes afraid of vijay’s power and attempts to kill vijay, but he is saved by cocnut vendor ( mithun chakarborty). Vijay becomes very fond mithun chakarboty and decides to make him his sister’s (neelams) bodyguard.
VIjay’s mom hates him and doesn’t live with him. One day vijay meets kancha cheena. Vijay’s becomes friends with kancha cheena and attempts to get all of his money and get him back to the village kill at the same place where his father was killed.
The important thing about the movie is dialouges by amitabh bachnan and danny. You can’t tell who is better danny or amitabh. Danny is one of the underrated actors in india. In my opinion nobody can act like mr danny. The first scene when they show amitabh bachnan, the police officer is aasking him questions is worth a watch.
Another scene is when amitabh goes to a restaurant to eat with his wife madhvi and all the people are looking at him because he is a gangster. The best dialogue in the movie was when amitabh tell’s that he is the son of mast dinanath. This dialouge comes up: aae sala kancha cheena bandook bhi dikhata hai aur peeche bhi hathta hai.

When young vijay is washing danny’s car at young age. Then when he grows up and goes to meet danny he tell’s apun vijay bachpan mein tera gaadi ke sheeshe saaf karta tha.
Another scene is when amitabh’s sister captured by his gang members and amitabh goes to save her.
Amitabh is great as ever no need to mention his performance. Danny gives one of his best performance of his life after the movie ghatak. Mithun Chakarborty got the award for the supporting actor for this movie. He does a very good job also.
