Ok, I know, I know, you all have watched ‘Agneepath’ and my review is a bit late but still, I wanted all who hasnt seen it yet, may get to know what all they’ll be missing so here comes my review.
We all know that ‘Agneepath’ has already been made earlier in 1990 with our beloved Big B, Mr. Amitabh Bachchan as the main lead. We even know the plot & the story & this too, that the movie is seen as a bench mark for Indian cinema as well as for Bachchan ji, so, here, the very obvious question arises and that’s that what must be the reason had been due to which it is re-made?
The answer to this question is as simple as that. The original ‘Agneepath’ couldn’t do well at the Box-Office & this made Yash Johar, the producer of the film sad as the film was on the biggest dream of Mr. Johar.
He set up a meeting with his son, the very well known Director/Producer of recent time, Karan(Johar) and told him about this. He wanted Karan to remake the film & you know what?
Karan Johar said ‘No’ to his father stating the fact that, it wasn’t his kind of film.
This decision of Karan Johar, made his father a more sad than ever before
However, time moved on and Mr. Yash Johar passed away with the un-fulfilled dream of ‘Agneepath’ being remade. After this, Karan Johar also moved on in life and gave several hits to Indian Cinema, but all of his movies revolved around ‘Family values & bonding’ unlike to that of Agneepath
.
One day, the young director ‘Karan Malhotra’ approached Karan Johar with some of his scripts & suddenly, Karan Johar tossed a question at Karan Malhotra, “Would you like to remake, Agneepath” & no marks for guessing as for what Karan Malhotra’s answer would have been!
It was a ‘Yes’! and this is how Karan Johar decided to work on the film.
Now, coming to the film, the new ‘Agneepath’, I have to say that Karan Johar won back what his father lost long time back. The film is a hit & here I’m presenting what all I have to say about the film…
CHARACTERS – Hrithik Roshan(Vijay Deenanath Chauhan), Priyanka Chopra(Kaali Kauwde), Sanjay Dutt(Kancha Cheena), Rishi Kapoor(Rauf Lala) & others.
STORY – Story is same as of the previous ‘Agneepath’. A school head-master, ‘Deena Nath Chauhan’ is brutally killed by the villain of the film ‘Kancha’ and fifteen years later, head-master’s son, ‘Vijay Deenanath Chauhan’ takes revenge for the injustice done to his father.
PERFORMANCES – ‘Agneepath’ has all over again, has given a chance to the talented actor ‘Hrithik Roshan’ to show his acting skills as prior to this film, he has been doing very dull roles as in ‘Guzaarish’, ‘Kites’ etc. but this movie brought him back as the ‘Hero of the masses’ after a very long time or should be said after ‘Dhoom 2’.
He has done a good job. His expressions throughout the film has been very natural & revengeful as it was demanded by the script. He has also worked a lot on his body and it showed!
Everyone throughout the move, just waited for Hrithik to come, fight and mix the villains to ashes.!
Secondly, it’s Priyanka Chopra as ‘Kaali Kauwde’ but I think that she didn’t had much to do in the film.
She lived in the same ‘Chaul’ as of ‘Hrithik’ & you’ll find her playing just a love interest to ‘Hrithik’, that’s it, but she did her best in whatever she got.
Yess, I know for whom you all have been waiting for.! Yes, it’s ‘Kaancha’, the villain. ‘Sanjay Dutt’ has done a tremendous job! What acting, what Get Up, what expressions! ‘Masha Allah’! I read it somewhere in the news paper that it happened after a long time or for the first time when people clapped & whistled for the Villain louder to that for the Hero! Hats-off Sanjay.
Now, other most important role is played by ‘Rishi Kapoor’ as ‘Rauf Lala’. He has played a girl trafficker. One, who has noo feelings for any one, one who just love’s his business and the one who’s most cruel of all. ‘Rishi Kapoor’ made the role of ‘Rauf Lala’ sparkled with his unmatched acting and what’s more, after decades, you’ll get to see ‘Rishi Kapoor’ fighting with the hero.yes, it’s true! Nice Job Rishi Kapoor.mark my words, producers & directors won’t get dates of him after this!
Other character artist have also done their parts really well. You’ll not find any actor will dull act or expressions, that’s for sure!
MUSIC – This really comes as a disappointment for music lovers, specially those who wait for melodious tunes by ‘Dharma Production’. ‘Chikni Chameli’ & ‘Shree Ganesha Deva’ are the onlt 2 song which you’ll remember once you step out of the theatre.
Other songs are not up tp the mark. ‘Gun Gun Guna’, done by ‘Priyanka Chopra’ is ok-ok type and will not make you like it. A ‘Qawwali’ has also been added with ‘Rishi Kapoor’ in it to relate with Muslim masses but that to couldn’t make up for the lack of good music but hopes are there that this song can pick up after some time of the release.
Overall, music of this ‘Masala-Flick’ disappoints us this time.
DIRECTION – ‘Karan Malhotra’ wasn’t thst much in the lime light before he directed ‘Agneepath’. We as audience, also didn’t expected much when saw a pretty new kind of director directing such a benchmark sort of a movie but as we get deep inside of the film, we get to see the new horizons of direction through him.
He’s done a pretty good job as a director and hasn’t let down Karan Johar and the audience, either.
Direction of the scenes, where ‘Hrithik’ saves his sister from the clutch of ‘Rauf Lala’ came up as very impressive. I promise that all brothers will see themselves in ‘Hrithik’ when he approaches ‘Rauf Lala’ to battle and bring back his younger sister!
Thumbs Up Karan Malhotra, well wait for another flicks directed by you!
ATTRACTION – No guesses please…Whom it could be other than ‘KATRINA KAIF’!
Yes, whistles, shouts, giggling, and even Jumping.you mustn’t have had seen such kind of response in a multiplex but to your utter surprise, It Happened when Katrina first appeared on the screen wrapped in a Silky Red ‘Parda’ on the screen as ‘Chikni Chameli’!
Woww, she looked hotter than hot. However, many people including my aunts and all finds her face lacking expressions in the song but who cares? Guy’s don’t go to watch her face.Am I right dudes!
Finally, it could be said as ‘Icing on the Cake’ and audience too loved her from the bottom of their hearts…me too -)
OVERALL – Yes, it’s totally worth watching as it’s the first mature kind of movie of the year.
Here maturity means, maturity in acting which we don’t get to see in the era ruled by actresses like ‘Deepika Padukone’ Sorry ‘Deepi’(
so, just don’t wait if you have not seen it yet, take your family along a watch 1990 in 2012 in an all new ‘Avataar’! And yes, please don’t forget to rate & comment on my ‘Lengthy!’ review…!
