Apun Vijay Dinanath Chauhan...

Remakes are not always crowd pullers. There is always a risk to remake any movie because we always compare the original v/s. the Remake. Well, this is quite natural for us but if we see on the response of remakes, we can say that Remakes are usually not likable. For example the remake of Super-Duper hit movie Sholay, Aag was super-duper flop. Remake of Super hit movie Don was also not as successful. And Karan Malhotra takes a big risk as he started his direction with the remake of Agneepath (1990), which was not successful in the early days but later on it broke many records. It is remembered even today because of many things. But Karan Malhotra has proved himself in his very first chance.

Story:

Vijay Chauhan (Hrithik Roshan) lives in a small village Mandwa which is situated near by Mumbai with his father Dinanath Chauhan (Chetan Pandit) and Mother Suhasini Chauhan (Zarina Wahab). His father who is a teacher and also known as a honest person in the village; other villagers always takes his opinions and consider him as their ideal. The ruler of the village gets scared off when he sees all this. Then he calls his son Kancha Cheena (Sanjay Dutt) to control the situation. Kancha offers villagers that he wants their land on lease so that he can establish a company of salt. But when Dinanath Chauhan tries to stop them for doing that, Kancha doesn’t like it and very smartly he hangs him and also won the sympathy of villagers. Vijay with the flame of revenge comes to Mumbai with his pregnant mother and starts living there. There he found Kaali (Priyanka Chopra) who always stands beside him in every situation. There he comes to the company of Rauf Lala (Rishi Kapoor) who is a gang leader and also a rival of Kancha. He becomes the right hand of Rauf Lala. Vijay Chauhan uses Rauf Lala very neatly for his revenge. And again his flame of revenge takes him to his village Mandwa.

Agneepath movie is all about the revenge and as the promo said it is full of violence and action.

Now if we compare the old Agneepath with the new Agneepath; the basic story is the same as it is about the Mandwa village & the revenge story of Vijay Chauhan with Kancha but there are some changes in new Agneepath. In the remake you would not find the role of Mithun Chakarborty. It is totally vanished from the remake however you would find a new character named Rauf Lala and Kaali.

Hrithik Roshan as Vijay Chauhan is terrific. There is not a single scene in which he tries to copy the original Vijay Chauhan. By his chocolaty and stylish looks one can never thought that he could do this type of roles. It is very difficult to play the role of such an iconic actor in such a different way. It would not be good to compare the old Vijay Chauhan and the new Vijay Chauhan. Hrithik Roshan introduces the new Vijay Chauhan to us with his wonderful performance.

Sanjay Dutt as Kancha Cheena is undoubtedly the best in this movie. His bad looks are at its best in Agneepath. In his bald look, Eyes without eyebrows, huge muscular body and with his heavy voice he looks the most scariest and treacherous villain. His evilness can easily be seen through his eyes. When he hangs the father of Vijay on the tree he looks so deadly and scary. In his new avtaar of Kancha Bollywood find his new Gabbar Singh that would be remembered in coming years also.

Rishi Kapoor as Rauf Lala has also done a tremendous job. He fully justifies his role by his performance. With this negative role he proves himself as an all rounder.

Priyanka Chopra as Kaali also done a great job. She added charm in this movie by her presence. However there was not much scope for her but in her short role she is quite noticeable.

Om Puri as Gayetonde, Kalki Tiwari as Shiksha, Zarina Wahab as Suhasini Chauhan also plays their characters very adequately & cleanly.

Music is totally based on the situations of the movie. All the songs are good. However O’Saiyan is missing from the movie. Chikni Chameli and Deva Shree Ganesha are the highlights of the movie. Gun Gun Guna and Abhi Mujh Mein Kahin are also worth listen songs. Background music of the movie is very impressive. The scene when Vijay Chauhan comes to kill Rauf Lala, background music is just amazing in that scene and that too can be listen in the promos also.

As Agneepath is based on revenge and violence, you would not find any scene lacking from the main point. From the starting of the movie to the end it is full of action and violence. The entry scenes of Young Hrithik’s and Kancha are just spectacular. The hall was full of hoot and whistles when they appeared first time in the movie.

However it could have been a risk for Karan Malhotra to start his career with a remake like Agneepath, but must say it is a very nice and honest attempt from his side. He has done a fantastic job and as a first timer, he is just amazing in his work.

My Verdict:

There are different opinions of different people about this movie. For some people old Agneepath is good and for some remake is good. But for me both are good. I had never watched old Agneepath before the promos of new one. I never found it interesting but when I heard that Hrithik is doing the Agneepath remake I just decided to watch the old one. I watched the old one just a few days before. But if would talk about the action, new Agneepath is much better than the old Agneepath. Whatever it is but must say Karan Malhotra has done an incredible job and deserves a standing ovation.

My rating is 4/5.

Must Watch movie.
