Welcome relief from last week's torture(KANK)

Hi friends,

Well, went to watch Ahista Ahista last night with very little expectations in mind. After all what could be worse than the last week’s torture called KANK.

Anyway, I came out of the multiplex pretty satisfied with the film. I must say it was a decent attempt by debutant director Shivam Nair.

The film actually brings back memories of the genre of films that were the forte of the likes of Hrishikesh Mukherjee.

Plot:

The plot is fairly simple. Abhay Deol is a simple man who makes a living out of being witness at a marriage registrars office. He comes across Soha as a girl who has come to marry her boyfriend Shayan Munshi, but somehow Shayan doesn’t manage to reach.

The leading lady is on a difficult path now. The hero helps her with everything from getting a job, accomodation etc. Meanwhile the hero and heroine express their love for each other. So far so good.

However, the climax seems to be weird. When Shayan comes back, Soha chooses to go back to him.

The story is fairly simple and seems straight out of life. The situations, dialogues all seem very realistic and can be easily identified with. The locales of Delhi have been captured beautifully and are a treat to eyes.

Performances:

Abhay Deol is completely natural and portrays the character effortlessly. He looks the character and slips into role perfectly... He’s an actor to watch for.

Soha, though carries the role pretty efficiently, seems un natural and expressionless at times. However, her overall performance is decent and flaws are not easily noticed.

Shayan Munshi is stictly OK. He doesn’t have an enormous role to play and he does a so so job. nothing much to mention.

Other characters are decent in their respective roles.

Music:

The biggest limitation of the entire enterprise is its music. Himesh Reshammiya’s tunes along with his voice sound like hammer beatings on your head and ears. Also, the songs seem forced and break the continuity of the story. Absolute loser on this front.

Overall. Ahista ahista is a decent movie and though is a little slow on pace, its easy on your mind and is definitely a complete family entertainer.

And thus it is a movie that was absolutely required after a terrible torture by Karan Johar last week.
