I would not recommend air asia in any case. There is no reliability at all. We were informed of the flight being cancelled 4 days prior to the flight with options to take a flight the next or previous day. This was a disaster for us since we had non-cancellable bookings for hotels and connecting flights. The staff was extremely rude. When we requested for them to reimburse us on flights with other airline son the same day (which were obviously expensive), they flatly refused. They behaved as if they were doing us a’favor’by informing us of the cancelling before ’4 days’, which is ridiculous since we planned our trip nearly 2 months before.
The biggest joke is that they cancelled the flight because "a new airplane did not arrive". This is a sham because (1) they are selling tickets when there is no aeroplane and (2) if they know about it before at least 4 days, then why cant they make alternate arrangements for another plane. This makes me believe that they have cancelled only because they didnt sell enough tickets.
Take Air Asia only if you don’t care about problems in your vacation at the last moment. When I checked other forums, I have seen similar complaints which makes me believe that they do this very often.
It has been more than 15 days since the fiasco and I have still not received the refund. Have seen complaints on other websites of people not receiving refunds for months. Will put in another post it it doesn’t come in within the next 15 days.
Update: Its been 2 months now and I have still not received the refund for the cancelled flight. Customer service tells me it will be credited at the earliest but that’s still not case. Please avoid. This airline is a scam.
