I travelled with Air India for the first time in october and it will be my last. It should have been a direct flight from Birmingham to Amritsar, which is why I paid the extra cost compared to the other airlines. On arrival at birmingham, we were informed that the flight would be going to Delhi due to operational problems and that we would get a flight in the morning from Delhi to Amritsar which would only take about an hour. When asked what would happen for the 8 hours stop over in delhi, staff informed us that we would be put up in a hotel at no extra cost. As it was a long-awaited holiday, we decided to continue with our journey.
When we got to Delhi, we were in for a shock. The air india representatives didnt seem to have a clue what to do with us. I dont think they expected us. We were passengers left stranded in Delhi. When we asked for our hotels for over night stay and that a flight would be taking us to Amritsar in the morning, they said there may not be such a flight. After some arguments, he then suggested that he would organise coaches to take us to Amritsar. An 8-9 hour coach journey was not what we were told and had we been told this in birmingham, I would never had caught that flight. The air india representatives said that there may be a flight in the morning or not, he said we could be waiting up to 2 days and that coaches were our best option. What were we to do, we had to get on the coaches. We then waited 3 hours for the coaches to arrive. After 8 hours on the plane, we then had to endure an 8 hour coach journey. We were given no food or water, only after passengers complained, did they come round with some water. Air india does not care about the service it provides or the well being and safety of its passengers. In my opinion, any airline who doesnt care shouldnt be providing a service at all!!!1
