Air India ruined my wedding anniversary

I gifted a trip to Dehradun to my husband on the occasion of our wedding anniversary on 9th May 2013. The tickets were booked 2-3months in advance via Air India for Mumbai-Delhi-Dehradun.

On 8th May 2013  as I arrived at the Mumbai airport and that’s when bad luck struck. The Air India ground attendant gave us two different seats on either sides of the flight irrespective of viewing our names and the same surname on the tickets. As me and my husband were lost in an excited conversation about our trip we missed the seat number on the boarding pass and proceeded to check-in.

At the Mumbai Airport Air India check-in counter, the boarding pass verifying officer picked up a fight with another officer leading to a delay of 20mins in our flight.

On reaching Delhi (a stop over of an hour) we were greeted by the Air India attendants who mentioned that our following flight from Delhi-Dehradun has been pre poned and we missed it as the Mumbai flight was postponed. We were surprised as neither the Airline nor the booking agent Make My Trip took the pain to inform us about the change in time. Yet, the Delhi Air India officers gave us a free ticket transfer to Jet Airways without showcasing any regret over the mishap.

They also blamed Make My Trip for not informing us the change of schedule.

We proceeded in Jet to Dehradun. As unfortunate fate strikes in bulk, our flight couldn’t land at Dehradun airport due to bad weather. We flew for more than 3hours taking rounds over Dehradun for a 30mins journey. Tiring as it was, the relief struck as Jet regretted the inconvenience and announced the refund.

As our tickets was transferred from Air India to Jet, they instructed us to get in touch with Air India to claim our refund. We hovered at Delhi airport for more than 2hours to get in touch with the right authority at Air India. Finally, after a long wait the officer gave us a written doc to claim our refund from Make My Trip.

I wrote to Make My Trip who had no idea about this situation and tried their best to get in touch with Air India to claim my refund. I too simultaneously tried to trace Air India customer department but my efforts went in vain. Air India’s customer service does not exist on Helpline-Twitter-Facebook-Website-Email.

Its been more than a month and my amount of Rs.9234/- is stuck with Air India.

I highly appreciate the efforts of Make My Trip to help me claim my refund during this period.
