INDIAN, thats Indian Airlines in its new avataar. The change in the name has not brought about any change in the quality of service, if anything it has gone from bad to worse. Recently I had to travel by INDIAN because I did not have any other choice. This was after a gap of many years and I hoped that mounting losses and stiff competition would have taught a few lessons to our very own public sector Airline. But INDIAN it seems has stuck to its reputation of not changing and if at all only for the worse. All my flights were late. Infact while waiting for my flight I noticed on the notice board that all INDIAN Flights were running late and infact they were the only ones that were running late. Checking in was just about OK, very staid and unfriendly staff on the check in counter, no personal touch at all, just like most of the other government agencies. On board the aircrafts one was in for further shocks. The cabin crew was unfriendly, totally devoid of charm, lacking in basic manners. However I must mention here that surprisingly I found the male cabin crew far better than the females. They were young and had a smile on their face and were courteous compared to their female counterparts. Coming to the food on borad is lacking in quality and taste. Choice of menu is horrific. While qualtity is sufficient, quality is miserable. All in all a waste of the public money. Why is the government still sleeping? Cant we do something about it? And if not why not shut it down or completely privatise it?
