I guess your luck flying Air India is all down to pot luck.
All my flights with them on this journey where
London - Delhi - Bombay - Chennai
Chennai - Delhi
Delhi - London
and I guess about half were awful, and half were good.
The first flight (London - Delhi) was bad, the air hostesses were rude and lazy, half way through the flight my oxygen mask fell out, nearly causing to wet myself thinking I was about to explode due to the change in pressure, and then our bags were convieniently taken off the conveyor belt and placed on the side, where it took half-an-hour to get to them.
Chennai - Delhi was excellent, there were 40 passengers on a plane with a capacity of 200, so we were allowed to pad around a bit, and it seemed like we had one air hostess per passenger.
Delhi - London was mixed, our flight was overbooked so we had to take a flight 12 hours later. Fair enough though we arrived at the same time, the next day. However we were put up in a nice hotel (the courtesy one by Delhi international), and we got to fly business class , however, our sleep patterns were mucked up, the seat next to me broke and it doesnt make up for missing a coach the way back and calling my dad up asking him to drive 5 hours to pick us up, again we had the same problem picking up our luggage as the first flight. Air India probably doesnt pay enough to get their Priority tags noticed by Heathrow Staff.
