I have tried many indian domestic airlines but I think I am obliged to write about our very own INDIAN. I have travelled around 8 times and every travel has been a different experience altogether. Flight delay has always been a common phenomenon. When you book for a flight on monday morning at 8AM, you should be mentally prepared to reach the destination around 8PM , otherwise you would be disappointed. My flight has been delayed by 6 hours at least twice and all the trouble after reaching the airport !!! Another aspect that many of our friends have already elaborated on is the cabin crew folks. They are supposed to be poilte and considerate to passengers but I have seen a 70 year old man grumbling throughout the flight since the cabin crew did not help him put his hand baggage in the cabinet. The reason given was that the air hostess had a neck sprain!!!
All those apart, they ensure a safe journey and you think Alls well that ends well. The peak of annoyance came recently when I had to book a ticket for my husband. It was supposed to be easy fare and the booking was confirmed without hassles through online booking. I was beaming with satisfaction for getting a good deal when suddenly my husband had to travel overseas on official requirement. I coolly tried to cancel the ticket and found that it was a non-refundable ticket(trust me - booking page did not mention any such thing and even airlines FAQ does not have a section about cancellation) and I would lose all money. Had I known this , I would have as well tried some other airlines. The customer executives telll me that I should have scanned throught their entire site, read through the rules and regulations and not complain now!! Even now I dont find this rule listed in any common link that can be navigated.
Anyway money lost cant come back to me. Just wanted to increase awareness among folks that indian airlines has such a clause(I got refund even from Air deccan, Luckily we had a return air deccan ticket!!)
