Air India

Air India is India’s National carrier. At one time The

Maharajah was a symbol of courteous treatment and efficient

Service. Then it was nationalised and after sometime the rot set in

and today the government wants the private sector to take it over

and improve it or bury it. The government nationalised the banks

and now the banks are in trouble and subservient to the

government in granting loans and favours under influence

without looking at the viability of the proposals.

The institutions which take over Air India may revive it

or sell the assets and take advantage of the real estate

which it possesses. The persons who will be directly affected by the sale of the PSU

are its employees. Fundamentally the equation is that every organisation

has to fund itself and not depend on doles or infusions from

the taxpayers money. Thus all classes and categories of

employees must sit and discuss how to make the institution viable

and avoid political influences and pressures. There should be only

one party and that belongs to the entire organisation. The employees

must sit together discuss how to cut costs, tighten their belts,

improve the service and function, and make the organisation viable

in this competitive world. This is the only solution and

it can be done provided all the employees unanimously agree to work

and tighten their belts by taking reduced salaries, no perks

till the the organisation regains its feet to a comfortable financial position

with a safe and good reserve in finances. This is the only answer

to Air India and other organisations which are in the red.
