I flew AI this year(DEC 2002) to Cochin. Guess what , without second thoughts I decided , ’NEVER FLY AIR INDIA’.
I took the direct flight from bombay to New york (AI 111)The timings changed last moment. I had to stay in Bombay for a day in a rubbish hotel provided by AI.Its called the Regent. Again the plane was delayed to take off by 3 hrs.Then to my amazement they flew to Delhi with Delhi passengers, then flew back into Bombay airspace then to New York. This is what they term ’Direct flight’ .
This delay caused me to miss my connection flight from New York.Again I had to stay a day at New York .
And all this topped with indifferent attitudes of Air India staff at New York.To be frank the staff at Bombay were very nice.Hats off to them.As for the NY staff they are still yet to learn the ABC’s of customer service.
from my interaction with other passengers, they said that there is always a situation with AI. Either flights delayed, missed baggage etc. Air India is bound to catch you some where during the trip.
Air India I am ashamed !! The national carrier of one the fastest growing economies in the world.
