I took indian domestic flight from Bangalore to Delhi last week. In fact this is the first time I have flown Indian in a long long time, because the previous experience was not good at all. But I thought that things would have changed and plus the fare was the lowest, so in these times of IT-recession, why not save a few bucks. Now to be very impartial, there are signs of change happening. For one, it took off and landed on time, but maybe that’s because I took the early morning flight, my friends tell me that middle of the day and evening flights are much more delayed.
The breakfast was good, infact very good and enough in quantity and the air hostesses were definitely more polite and well receptive as compared to the aging and obese aunties that were there earlier. The plane condition was also better. It looked it would last the duration of the flight. However the ground staff is still bad. When I requested for a window seat and if possible to block the next seat, the guy just grunted, but did not say yes or no or did not bother to look up from his computer screen.
Typical government babu chap. But when I was seated, I found that I got a window seat and both the seats next to me were left empty. So on the whole, I must say it is getting better and more competitive and with the government backing it (I hear of salaries being raised inspite of the company posting loses, which is obviously being sponsored by you and me) it should atleast not be closing down in the near future, which is more than what one can say about Jet nowadays.
