I travelled to Mauritius in Feb 2008 from Delhi. There are two options to go to Mauritius from Delhi - a)Direct flight of Air Mauritius b)Hopping flight of Air India.
The Air India flight stops for the night at Dubai so it did not look like an appealing option to me and I opted for the Air Mauritius flight.
The plane runon the route is A320-200, which is a new plane. The Business class seemed very luxurious but humble people like me travel economy. The economy layoyut is in 2-4-2 style. So you can turn out to be unlucky and not get an aisle/window seat.
Space -vise it is no better than the domestic airlines in India. For a tall (6ft) person there would be serious leg space issues.I was having a mild fever when I boarded the craft and requested for some pill which was brought to me promptly. The entertainment system on board is world class with several movies/songs games to boast of.
The problem with the airline is in its catering. We had a 7.5 hour flight from Delhi to Mauritius (13:10 IST- 20:30 IST) but we were served food only once during the entire duration. This was around 16:00 IST. The attendants took a good to hour to actually serve the food to everyone. While the food itself was OK (U can have wines, whiskeys etc) but the airline should at least serve some snacks along the way. Food wise the airline is worse than Air Deccan - the low cost Indian airline.
Punctuality wise the airline is fine and check in check out is also OK
