I have now fairly an idea about the services of most mobile operators (except probably MTS, Uninor and Videocon) and can say unequivocally that Aircel is the worst among the private players. While customer support in BSNL is even worse, at least BSNLs billing is quite fair. If you are using Aircel prepaid, you will never know why they have suddenly deducted Rs. 15 or Rs. 30 from your account. At certain places, like in Assam, even the incoming calls will get barred (with a lifetime card), if you dont recharge withing the stipulated days varying from seven days to one month.
While all operators are more or less chors (sorry for the usage of the word), Aircel has the most innovative ideas of how to fleece its customers. So, it is better to avoid Aircel altogether for a peaceful nights sleep. Airtel and Vodafone undoubtedly provide the best of services, though the rates are higher. Tata Docomo and Indicom are good too. But they have innuermable and complicated schemes and very confusing to choose from. Reliance is the cheapest and overall quite good. Their simple plans suit every need.
So, go for BSNL (if you dont want unexpected billing shocks but at the cost of service), Airtel or Vodafone or Tata (if you are willing to pay more for better services), Reliance (if you want services that are cheap but okay for most of our use) and avoid Aircel altogether.
My views, of course. You are free to choose any operator you like.
