After a long wait, finally watched this movie yesterday. This movie is based on a real story which would ignite patriotism even in the hearts of the skeptics. The story is of 1990 when 170, 000 Indians were evacuated from a war-torn Kuwait. The story itself is so heart-touching and inspiring that it would give you the chills. I had high expectations because of the promising trailers. And every once in a while you get to watch a movie which does not just meet your expectation but surpasses it.
Akshay Kumar essays the character of Ranjit Katyal who played a pivotal role in the airlift. The whole cast did an amazing work. The entire treatment of the story is brilliant, the direction, the flow of the story. The actors have perfectly portrayed the trials and tribulations of Indian citizens in war-torn Kuwait. Raja Krishnan Menons direction is award-worthy, he does complete justice to the story and the people. The movie will keep you at the edge of your seat, even though you would know about the final outcome, still the story is so engaging that it would get your heart racing with curiosity.
Akshay Kumar proves yet once again that he is capable of playing challenging roles on big screen. Im so glad that Nimrat Kaur was in a lead role, I think actresses like her and Radhika Apte are so amazing and better than the otherso-called mainstream actresses. I look forward to watching her play more roles.
In my opinion, Airlift is a must-watch, in a way you get to see what all those people went through and the lengths the government officials went to, to bring Indians home. The movie has left an ever-lasting impact. Truly inspiring and worthy of a watch.
