An emotive true story of an incredible event, balanced and brilliantly scripted and directed. A touch of Bollywood in a story of self-discovery and human strength in adversity. This movie belongs to that sort of few movies that we will be remembered for a very long time. The first half is quite terrifying due to the attacks & invasion and is wonderfully directed. You can feel the terror. While the second half is relatively pleasant.
Airlift, expectedly, rests on Akshay Kumar’s shoulders, and he underplays the heroism beautifully. However we do see other players like Kumud Mishra( he plays committed bureaucrat), Purab Kohli arouses your empathy playing a young worker looking for his lost love, Prakash Belawadi is quite impressive in playing a crabby refugee.
On negative front, the movie tries desperately to ape another film calledbaby. It has songs at absurd plot points stealing the movie of its already banal pace. It has an item number - thats the need of the hour probably.
