I had obtained a value 499 broadband 256kbps plan from Airtel in 2006, with unlimited download from 9 PM to 8AM. Till March 2009, I did not have a problem with speed. However, since then, during night time (9PM to 8AM) my speeds are very low. I kept frequently complaining but to no avail. Finally I approached their nodal office. The brochure which was given to me said 256 kbps speed without any qualifications. I still have the brochure with me.This is their reply:
’Thank you for writing to us at Airtel Telemedia Services.
With reference to the telephonic conversation you had with Ms.Aruna regarding browsing speed , we wish to inform your account is currently in a plan of 256 Kbps at a rental of Rs.499, as per the plan opted by you assured bandwith at any point of time would be 80% of plan speed
which is 200 Kbps. We earnestly hope that the resolution provided by us was up
to your satisfaction."
So the lesson is - dont get fooled by their promised speeds.
